Why choose Planned Transfer Hospital Birth?

There are many occasions where a family choose to birth at a hospital versus a home.

Considerations may include a planned cesarean or induction, desire for epidural anesthesia during labor, a high-risk pregnancy or birth, or simiply the assurance of the hospital setting.

Hospital birthing families should not have to go without comprehensive prenatal care from a compassionate midwife who gives individualized prenatal, postpartum and pediatric.

In the Planned Transfer Model, families are cared for with the midwifery model of care for the duration of their pregnancy. In labor, when desired, they go to the hospital for their birth much like a typical hospital birth. All records and necessary protocols are secured prior to the birth.

The family has the option for the midwife or doula to stay along side them for the birth alongside the hospital staff, whom the midwife has a positive working relationship with.

Following their birth, the midwife continues care as any other family in her practice. This includes 4-6 visits in the first 6 weeks for breastfeeding, recovery checks and avoiding visits to the pediatrician for normal newborn health. No need to go to the pediatrician if all well checks remain normal.  â€‹â€‹â€‹
